The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) invites students from all UNINOVIS partner universities to its Summer School on Responsible AI for Society. This intensive programme takes place 6–17 July 2026 in The Hague, the international city of peace and justice.
Successful completion of the programme will earn you 4 ECTS.
Why attend?
This Responsible AI for society course is holistic in nature due to a multi-layered examination of AI's impact, moving from the microscopic level of data creation to the macroscopic level of planetary and political consequences.
- The Micro Level (Data): The course begins with the foundational "invisible steps" of AI: how data is gathered, cleaned, and modeled, highlighting the ethical choices and potential misconduct behind statistical and algorithmic fairness.
- The Meso Level (Human-Machine Interaction): It then shifts to the user, exploring how individuals interact with these models, how AI shapes human cognition, language, and professional identity, and where epistemic authority truly lies.
- The Civic Level (Society & Politics): The focus then widens to society, examining the civic consequences of AI, the asymmetry of technological power between designers and users, and the regulatory responses like the EU's Artificial Intelligence Act.
- The Macro Level (Planetary & Global Power): Finally, it zooms out to a planetary scale, questioning the socio-economic, ecological (water and energy use), and neo-colonial power dynamics driven by Big Tech companies in the US and China.
