The Importance of Internationality
Nowadays, studies, science or the experience of students without internationality are unimaginable. It creates value for everyone – higher education institutions, employers, students and society. It is important to find new and sustainable ways and effective incentives to promote international cooperation. One of them is the creation and strengthening of European University alliances.
One example of such successful cooperation is the UNINOVIS European University Alliance, launched in 2025 and uniting over 125,000 students and 11,000 staff across its member institutions. On 4–6 June, the Alliance's partners from France, Spain, Germany, Albania, Italy, Finland, and the Netherlands gathered at Kauno kolegija, where the first UNINOVIS General Assembly was held.
Objectives
- • Discuss latest developments within the UNINOVIS Alliance
- • Review progress made since Kick-Off meeting, clarify any remaining issues
- • Strategically plan for the future
- • Address other key strategic and managerial issues
- • Foster in-person networking and collaboration among all participants, especially those who have not met yet (e.g. Quality Assurance Board, Student Representatives)

Building a Strong Alliance
The UNINOVIS General Assembly represented a significant milestone in strengthening the collaboration between all partner institutions. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for face-to-face networking, strategic planning, and establishing the governance structures needed for the alliance to thrive.
By bringing together representatives from eight European universities, the assembly demonstrated the alliance's commitment to fostering international cooperation and creating a comprehensive academic network that serves students, educators, researchers, and society at large.
